
John Sheehy
John Sheehy is the CEO of global boutique corporate advisory firm, Pottinger. John has 20 years’ experience in professional services (covering law, finance and consulting) in Australia, UK, US and Russia, focusing on cross-border M&A, joint ventures and partnerships, capital raisings and growth strategy development.
He is a leading renewable energy investment banker in Australia, having advised on project and platform-level M&A and financings for over 10GW of energy generation and storage assets. His experience includes advising:
- Enervest on capital partnerships in connection with its c. 9 GW portfolio of utility scale BESS and DER projects
- United Green on the sale of the 1.5GW+ Eurimbula solar/battery project
- BNRG Leeson on the sale of the 1GW+ Corop Solar Farm/battery project and associated capital partnership for its Australian portfolio of DER projects
- Fortescue Energy on various renewable energy investment and M&A opportunities
- Birdwood Energy on the establishment of its distributed energy platform with Aware Super
- Photon Energy on its 1.2GW platform JV with Canadian Solar (and subsequent asset sales to First Solar, Wirsol (now Gentari) and CleanPeak Energy)
- Green Peak Energy on its capital partnership with CBRE Investment Management
- The founding shareholders of Elanora, an Australia-focussed offshore wind developer, on its formation
- AGP/AMPYR on various financing transactions relating to its behind-the-meter business
Prior to joining Pottinger, John was a member of the M&A team at Linklaters LLP in London, Moscow and New York. While at Linklaters John was seconded to the corporate legal team of FTSE 100 company National Grid plc.
