Australia commissioned as many battery energy storage systems in 2025 as it had in the previous eight years combined. The numbers tell the story: 11 storage projects totalling 1.9GW/4.9GWh came online last year, with Q4 alone delivering 1GW/2.3GWh across four major deployments.

Annual investment has exploded from AU$90 million in 2017 to AU$2 billion today. With 75 projects financially committed or under construction, representing 13GW/34.7GWh of capacity, Australia's battery storage sector has shifted from nascent technology to a capital-intensive infrastructure reality.  Average project duration has doubled from 1.3 to 2.6 hours as systems scale. The industry's centre of gravity is moving from development to the harder questions: asset performance optimisation, degradation management, and revenue maximisation.

The 2nd Annual Summit convenes decision-makers responsible for protecting and optimising operational battery storage investments. Last year's inaugural event drew 180+ attendees from 10+ countries, establishing it as the essential gathering for asset owners, project developers, and portfolio leaders with operational skin in the game.
